How to Correct an eBay Listing With Bids

The best time to make a change to an eBay auction listing is before anyone has placed a bid on the item. Once a bid has been placed, eBay policy restricts the changes you can make in order to protect the bidder. However, there are several things you can do to set the record straight and allow you to accurately describe your item.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Know what you can and cannot change once the eBay item has received bids. After at least one bid has been placed, you cannot remove anything from the auction listing, change the duration of the listing or make changes to the minimum price, buy it now price or the reserve price. You may, however, add additional payment methods and change the item description.
Step2
Sign into your eBay account and navigate to the auction listing you want to change. From the listing page, click on the "Revise" button. The form you used to list the item will be displayed again, only this time, you'll only be able to add to the description and add payment methods.
Step3
Add information to your item description or add payment methods. The information you add to the item description will be separated and dated on the eBay auction listing.
Step4
Clear up any mistakes in the original listing by explaining them with the information you add. Although all of your original description will still be displayed, you can clarify anything you got wrong the first time.
Step5
Hit the "Verify" button when you have finished making the changes to the listing. Your changes will be displayed. If you want to add more information, hit your browser's back button to go back to the listing form.
Step6
Click on the "Submit Revisions" button once you are satisfied with your changes. The updated eBay auction listing will be displayed.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the condition of an item has changed or if you cannot update the auction listing to make it accurate, it is best to cancel the auction and re-list the item.
  • Removing all the bids from an eBay auction listing will not allow you to revise an item as if it had not been bid on.
