You have a wooden fence or a metal fence with a gate that opens to another area. Now you no longer need the gate in your fence. Seal off the gate so no one can open or close it and create a secure area.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Nails or screws
  • Wood
  • Screwdriver or hammer

Step1
Seal a wooden gate door by screwing the gate to the fence. Close the gate first. Take a long screw and screw it diagonally from the gate slat to the gate frame. You have now screwed the door into the frame permanently.
Step2
Nail a wooden gate shut by attaching a two-by-four to each side of the gate so that you can no longer open it. Take a small two-by-four and place it against the fence frame and the gate.
Step3
Hammer several nails into the board so that it firmly seals the gate shut. Go to the other side of the gate and attach a two-by-four on that side. The gate is now firmly shut from both sides.
Step4
Seal the gate by removing the hinges and turning it into another section of fence. Unscrew the hinges off the gate. Remove the hinge. Reattach the piece of fence by screwing both sides of the gate into the fence.
Step5
Remove the gate altogether. Replace the gate panel with an additional piece of fence that matches the rest of the fence. Stain it to match the whole fence.
Step6
Seal a metal gate by welding metal plates on each side. Drill holes in the gate on each side.
Step7
Screw a metal gate shut by attaching a metal plate to each side of the gate so that you can no longer open it. Take a small two-by-four and place it against the fence frame and the gate.
