How to Make a Bullclip Ipod Dock

You have an iPod, and you really want a dock so you can easily download all you music. But when you price the iPod dock at the Apple store, you realize you need to spend that $30 elsewhere. So, build your own dock with a bullclip and a rubber band. You can build it for less than a dollar with some office supplies. You may even already have the supplies.

Things You'll Need

• Extra large bulldog clip or bullclip or binder clip
• Rubber band
• Cable
• iPod

Instructions

1. Gather your materials. Locating the bullclip may be the hardest part of this project.

2. Open the clips on the bullclip. Set it aside.

3. Wrap the rubber band around the end of the cord that connects into the iPod. Set it back about a quarter-inch from the end of the cord. Keep the rubber band as flat as possible as you wrap it around the plug. The rubber band provides a cushion that protects the cord from any damage from the bullclip.

4. Squeeze the bullclip open. Gently insert the end of the iPod cord with the rubber band wrapped around it into the open bullclip. Carefully release pressure on the bullclip. Make sure the rubber band bears the pressure from the bullclip. If the bullclip is touching the cord, rewrap the rubber band.

5. Thread the cord out of the side of the bullclip. Plug it into an available USB port.

6. Attach your iPod to your new dock. Set the iPod and its dock down on your desk. The square metal part of the bullclip should be in full contact with the desk. You may need to move one or both of the bullclip's clips to adjust your view of the iPod screen. If the bullclip doesn't support the weight of your iPod, try a larger bullclip.
