Gall bladder problems range from gallstones to gall bladder disease. If you have large gallstones, they may block the duct that leads from the gall bladder. This can be painful. It may bother you for a while, then seem to disappear. Or, the stones can get stuck there and you'll need to get treatment. Gall bladder disease is when the organ swells. There are several herbs you can take to strengthen the gall bladder.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Research the herbal remedies available. There are several books and websites to guide you.

  2. Step 2

Pepper your system with peppermint oil. It's long been known that peppermint helps your digestive system. The oil may help dissolve gallstones. Opt for enteric-coated capsules.

  3. Step 3

Take vitamin C if you're a woman. One study found that it lowers your risk of gallstones. That wasn't the case with men, though. The recommended dosage is 1,000 milligrams three times a day.

  4. Step 4

Use barberry like the people in Iran do. It's used in that country for medicinal purposes and for treating biliary disorders like gall bladder disease. Barberry contains the chemical berberine which has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria.

  5. Step 5

Promote your gall bladder to produce more bile by taking Vitamin E. There is some evidence that a lack of vitamin E brings on gallstones.

  6. Step 6

Buy supplements online or at a local natural foods store. Ask the salesperson for advice.

Tips & Warnings
  • Talk to your doctor before taking supplements for your gall bladder.
  • Cut down on the vitamin C if you get diarrhea.

on 7/20/2008 I have read much about the many different herbs and methods used to alleviate gallbladder symptoms and gallstones. But I never come across this very effective formula (for me, it was a miracle). So let me add to the list what was and remains for me a very powerful South American preparation named Arocarbal. It is inexpensive and I doubt that it is available in the US. But if you are in Bolivia, or know somebody there who can send it, I highly recommend it. Previously, I controlled discomfort by eating very simple fare and no meat or dairy. Any dairy at all would make me feel like I was going to die, with intense pain. With Arcobal all discomfort is immediately alleviated and allows me to eat some foods that I probably should not eat. It lists as ingredients: Cynara Scolymus, Myrcianthes pseodotomate, Baccharis trimera, Rosmarinus Officinalis, and Mentol (spanish or latin). I have not
