How to Gain Buying Vacant Land

Most people think of buying and selling real estate as homes or business property. Actually, there are many ways to gain buying vacant land that has not been developed yet. Vacant land is less expensive, and you don't have to develop it to make a profit.

  1. Step 1

    Purchase vacant land and wait for the value to go up. Then gain by selling it for a higher price.

  2. Step 2

    Use the vacant land that you purchased. You can plant trees on it and raise them, then sell them to a timber company when they mature.

  3. Step 3

    Plant corn, tomatoes or other farm products on your vacant land. Sell the crop to local supermarkets, or take your crop to a roadside stand to sell it.

  4. Step 4

    Create a parking lot with your vacant land. This works especially in urban areas where parking is at a premium. Allow cars to park for set times at set fees, or collect fees from anyone who needs a parking space.

  5. Step 5

    Make nature trails and hiking paths on your wooded vacant land. Charge for nature trips. You can lead these hikes or allow your guests to hike by themselves.

  6. Step 6

    Develop your vacant land yourself by building a house or cabin on it. Be sure to hire a reputable contractor to perform the services.

  7. Step 7

    Add a mobile or modular home to your vacant land. Gain from this by either living in the home yourself or selling it for the profit.
