Tattoo conventions can be small, local events or large events featuring tattoo artists and models from around the world. If you want to organize a convention, you'll need to have lots of contacts in the tattoo world. Read these pointers to use your tattoo expertise to bring artists and models together at a convention.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Invite tattoo artists to set up booths. If you don't already have all the contact information you need, check tattoo magazines and websites like Tattoo Artist Magazine. Some of the artists may also teach seminars on how to take care of equipment or master the latest techniques and designs.
Step2
Find a location to hold the event. Tattoo conventions can take place in a midsized auditorium or even at an outdoor fair. Look at various opportunities. The Queen Mary in Long Beach hosts a tattoo convention with live entertainment every year, so be creative when looking for possible venues.
Step3
Set admission prices. If you're offering a weekend or weeklong convention, you can include package deals with a local hotel. Determine if there'll be a separate price for seminars and entertainment.
Step4
Make sure that you have all the proper insurance for the event. Tattoo artists need to be licensed before plying their trade, so check credentials and reputation before finalizing your featured artist list.
Step5
Feature vendors in related areas. Invite specialty jewelry and clothing designers, independent record companies and filmmakers and other underground artists to sell their goods at the convention. Hire bands, DJs and other entertainers to perform during and after exhibition hours.
