The Food City 500 is held at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. NASCAR races at the track date back to 1961, when it was called the Southeastern 500. The Food City 500 is considered one of the best NASCAR races. Jeff Gordon and Kurt Busch have grabbed the checkered flag several times.

Instructions

Step1
Purchase tickets. You can reach the ticket office at Bristol Motor Speedway by calling (423) 989-6900. It's open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Eastern Time). If you plan ahead, Bristol Motor Speedway will mail your tickets to your home. You should receive them 6 to 8 weeks before the Food City 500. If not, you can pick them up at will call. Tickets are also available 24/7 online.
Step2
Reserve a hotel room. A lot of the lodging in the area offers deals for Food City 500 weekend. There are also travel packages available through the Bristol Motor Speedway's website.
Step3
Consider camping. Blue Ox Campground runs about $160 for the Food City 500 weekend. There's a shower house, dump station and free shuttle service to the race.
Step4
Read over the track rules. To avoid loading the car with a bunch of stuff you can't bring in--like glass containers--familiarize yourself with Bristol Motor Speedway's rules.
Step5
Allow plenty of time to get to the Bristol Motor Speedway. There are six routes that lead into the track from Interstates 81 and 26.

  • Blue Ox Campground often sells out, so call as early in the season as possible.
