Organizing and storing ribbon is often difficult. A PVC pipe ribbon holder is one way to keep ribbon together and easily dispensed. This PVC pipe project is convenient and only takes about one hour to complete. Organize your craft room or just the ribbon drawer with this inexpensive ribbon holder.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 1/2-inch PVC pipe cut 3 inches in length
  • 2 1/2-inch PVC pipe cut 6 inches in length
  • 3 1/2-inch PVC 3 way connectors
  • 1 1/2-inch PVC pipe cut 12 inches in length
  • PVC cement
  • Drill with 1/8 inch drill bit
  • 8 1/8-inch dowel rods cut 6 inches in length
  1. Step 1

Connect two 3-inch PVC pipes together with the straight holes in a 3-way connector. Glue the connector and pipes together with the PVC cement to hold them in place. Repeat this with the other two 3-inch pipes and 3-way connectors.

  2. Step 2

Turn the pipes flat on the table so the empty holes in the 3-way connectors are sideways and facing each other. Slide one 6-inch PVC pipe into each of the open connectors. Apply PVC cement around the connectors. This needs to look like an "H" with a hole in the middle.

  3. Step 3

Connect the two 6-inch pipes together with a 3-way connector. Make sure the open end of the 3-way connector faces up. Add cement to the pipes to secure them together. This completes the "H" shape. Theses pipes are the base of the holder.

  4. Step 4

Glue the 12-inch pipe into the open end of the 3-way connector in the middle of the "H" shape. This pipe is the vertical holder.

  5. Step 5

Drill two holes in each side of the 12-inch pipe so the dowel rods fit in at 45-degree angles, with the drill and 1/8 inch bit. The holes must be spaced out and alternated between sides. For example, if you placed a hole 3 inches from the top and 3 inches from the bottom, on the side other side, drill a hole in between the those holes and on the bottom of the pipe. This allows the ribbon to turn without disrupting the other ribbons.

  6. Step 6

Place glue around one end of each dowel rod. Slide them into their respective holes at 45-degree angles. Allow the glue to dry. This will look like a small version of a hat rack.

  7. Step 7

Slide the ribbons onto the dowel rods.
