How to Create a Template Table in Access 2007

A table template is a method of quickly creating a table and is a new feature for Access 2007. It is an empty table of a particular type that you may use as-is or modify. The Access 2007 table templates are compatible with SharePoint Services 3.0 and consist of the following templates: assets, contacts, events, issues and tasks. Here's how to create a template table in Access 2007.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the database in which you wish to create a table. Click on the "Microsoft Office" button and click on "Open" to bring up the "Open" dialog box. Select the desired database.

    • 2

Select the "Create" tab and click on the "Table Templates" down arrow in the "Tables" group. Select one of the templates from the displayed list to insert a new table based on the template you selected. Note that the table contains fields appropriate to that template.

    • 3

Use the template immediately if it already meets your needs. Each template contains forms, macros, relationships, reports and predefined tables.

    • 4

Enter the table information immediately to begin creating a database that will meet your specific requirements. It will not be necessary to set the data types because Access 2007 will automatically read the data type.

    • 5

Download additional templates from Microsoft Office Online. The "Getting Started" window opens automatically when Access 2007 is started. Select a template category in the left pane, then select a template style in the center pane. Click on a template and click on the "Download" button.
