How to Convert a WordPerfect Document to a Microsoft Word Document

Convert a WordPerfect document into a Microsoft Word documents with ease. A basic WordPerfect document converts to Word without any problems or discrepancies. A complex document that contains TextArt, outlining, images or formatted text may need to be edited after it is converted.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Open Microsoft Word from the Start menu or from a desktop icon. Click "Open" under the "File" menu. A window appears for you to navigate. Find your desired WordPerfect document. Have the type of file listed at the bottom set to "All Files."
Step2
Double-click the file to automatically open it in Word. The small window automatically closes and opens your WordPerfect document in Microsoft Word.
Step3
Review the document and make any necessary formatting changes. Some document's alignment or special features may not appear the same in Word as in WordPerfect. Clip Art or photos may have to be inserted again to appear correctly in the Word document.
Step4
Click "Save As" under the "File" menu in the toolbar. Change the file's type to Microsoft Word Document, or ".doc." Pick a location to save the Word document by clicking the pull-down menu at the top of the window.
Step5
Type the name of the file in the "File Name" section. Click "Save." Your document now appears in the saved location as a Word document. Open the converted document in Microsoft Word and edit or view as needed.

  • Open and edit Microsoft Word documents in Microsoft Works or OpenOffice Writer.
