Dry skin can look dull and parched. Extremely dry skin is prone to chapping and cracking. Dry skin is the result of the body's low sebum production. It can be caused by heredity, vitamin deficiencies, skin conditions, or exposure to the elements. Homemade products with natural ingredients are gentle on dry, sensitive skin. Here are some steps to make your own dry skin products at home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mineral water
  • Baby oil
  • Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon orange juice
  • Olive oil
  • Rose water
  • Lime juice
  • 2 ounces plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon dry oatmeal
  • 1/2 mashed ripe banana
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Herbs (calendula, comfrey, chamomile, lavender, peppermint)
  • Pot
  1. Step 1

Mix up a skin cleanser to use each morning. Use an egg yolk, a teaspoon of orange juice, a teaspoon of olive oil and a few drops each of rose water and lime juice.

  2. Step 2

Spray mineral water on your skin each morning. Pat it dry lightly.

  3. Step 3

Apply a light application of baby oil after a shower or bath.

  4. Step 4

Purchase dry or fresh herbs to use in toner waters or facial saunas. Calendula, comfrey, chamomile, lavender, and peppermint are good at fighting dry skin.

  5. Step 5

Bring 2 quarts of water to a boil. Reduce heat and add 2 to 4 tablespoons of herbs. Simmer until the pot produces steam. Place the pot on a table and sit with your face above the steam for 15-20 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Follow a facial sauna with a facial massage and moisturizing treatment. Remove your face from the steam, and massage with dry oatmeal. Splash your face with cold water and allow it to dry. Apply a mask, moisturizer or oil.

  7. Step 7

Create a mask. Blend together an egg, a teaspoon of honey, half a teaspoon of olive oil and a few drops of water. Spread over your face and leave on for 20 minutes. Another mask to try is a mix of half a mashed ripe banana and 2 ounces of plain yogurt.
