Step 1
Reduce sticking by using a cooking spray or oil on the waffle grids or plates. Batter is likely to stick if your Belgian waffle iron has little or no oil. Add the right amount of oil or cooking spray. If you use the recipe booklet that usually comes with a waffle iron, follow those instructions accordingly.

Step 2
Rotate the waffle iron if the Belgian waffles constantly turn out too thin or uneven. Rotating helps the batter cover the plates or grids within the iron so that the waffles cook evenly.
-
Step 3
Adjust your baking time if the Belgian waffles always come out too light or too dark. Cook your waffles for a longer amount of time if you want them to have the perfect, golden color. Shorten your cooking time to avoid nearly burning the waffles.

Step 4
Check all of your connections if the waffle iron doesn't heat, or if the timer display light remains off. Unplug the waffle iron, then try again, ensuring that it is plugged in to a three-pronged outlet. To fix the timer display light, check the fuse or circuit breaker to make sure it is connected.
