Supporting a cause is really important. With all of the benefits we have as Americans, it is important to not take that for granted and instead find a way to help someone less fortunate. MSN is joining the battle by offering the "i'm Making A Difference" initiative. Use these steps to learn how to support your favorite cause with "i'm Initiative" from Windows Live Messenger.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Read up. Go the Windows Live Messenger website and read up about the program to make sure you understand how it works and the organizations that are available to support. They currently offer 10 different organizations that cover a range of causes.

  2. Step 2

Download the software. You need to download MSN Windows Live Messenger. It is a free program that allows you to chat with friends online and meet other great people through the MSN network. Follow the download steps on the i'm Initiative site.

  3. Step 3

Choose your cause. When you have downloaded the software, you will go through a registration process that allows you to pick from the 10 organizations that are currently offered, ranging from cancer research to animal care to AIDS organizations.

  4. Step 4

Finish the registration process. This includes choosing a user name, password and other basic registration information. Go through any other processes required and check out the "Help" areas to get a basic knowledge of the program and how it works.

  5. Step 5

Chat often. The more you use Windows Live Messenger, the more you raise. Once you have signed up, every ad you see contributes to the cause you have chosen.

  6. Step 6

Spread the word and maximize you results. There are banners, RSS feeds and other great ways to share what you are doing on your member pages and websites.

on 4/16/2008 I think there are better ways. I go to http://www.supportyourcause.com It donates to a charity of my choice or sends me the money so I can mail it to my cause by simply doing my regular online shopping through their portal. It also provides me with coupons and last minute deals.
