How to Use a Microwave

Today most homes and apartments come with microwaves built in. They have become one of the most popular appliances invented. For some people they have almost making the stove obsolete, but almost anyone can find some use for a microwave. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Make your dinner. Frozen dinners that take anywhere from half an hour to an hour in a conventional stove can now be done in 5 to 10 minutes in a microwave. Another advantage to using the microwave is that your kitchen won't get as hot as if you used an oven.

    • 2

Cook popcorn. It used to take a long time to make popcorn on the stove or even in a hot air popper. In a microwave, you can cook popcorn in a matter of minutes and the results are the same, if not better, than the old fashion way.

    • 3

Cook those leftovers using microwave platters. The time again is minimal and you will have a nice hot meal waiting for you.

    • 4

Show your children how to use the microwave. The oven can be very dangerous and not something that children should be encouraged to use on their own. However, a microwave can be easy enough for children to learn and they can heat up many items that will keep them happy until their real meal is ready.

    • 5

Prepare your coffee or other hot drinks in the microwave. Leaving your coffee maker on after making a pot of coffee can cause it to burn out easily. With your microwave, you can now heat up those cups of coffee in an instant. Tea and hot chocolate can also be done in the microwave in seconds, rather than making them on the stove top.

    • 6

Defrost your meats in minutes. Even if you wait until the last second, you'll still be able to use them in tonight's dinner.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ovens are still a better item to use when needing to cook meats thoroughly.

  • Bacon can be very messy cooked on the stove, but not if you use a microwave.

  • Always read the information on your containers. Some items can't be used in the microwave.
