How to Play in Career Mode in NASCAR 08

The Career Mode in NASCAR 08 is referred to as the Chase. In the Career Mode, you must earn licenses that will let you race for contracts. Contracts in the Chase open up cars that you will need to compete on all the different track types in Owner Mode. Here is how you can work your way through the Chase Career Mode in NASCAR 08.

      Start your chase. Choose the option for the Chase from the Start Menu. You will have to do a quick qualification to earn your starter's license. Once you get your starter's license, you will get to choose the manufacturer and color scheme for your vehicle.

      Earn licenses. Licenses will allow you the opportunity to earn contracts for 6 different types of races: super speedway and speed way with standard cars, and short track, road course, speedway and super speedway in the car of tomorrow. You must complete a series of mini-games to earn each license. You can get a bronze, silver or gold medal depending on where you set the parameters of the mini-game, and getting gold medals can earn you attribute boosts for your cars.

      Race for contracts. Contracts allow you to earn new cars for your garage. You must have completed the necessary license to compete in the contract. You will have to compete in several races and finish in the specified position or better to move on. Once you complete the contract, you will have the car you have been driving transferred to your garage so you can use it in owner mode.

      Play through a season in Owner Mode. This is where you will actually participate in all of the races in a NASCAR Cup season. You must have a car for each type of track in order to compete in that race, so for instance you need to complete the super speedway contract before you can race at the Daytona 500.

      Watch your progress and tweak your cars. There is a progress bar at the top of screen in the Chase Mode. You can also view a detailed report of your progress. Tweak your cars in your garage while practicing or qualifying to make sure they are ready to go on race day.

  • If you want to jump right in to a NASCAR cup season without earning licenses and contracts, try the Season Mode. You can race for the NASCAR cup as your favorite driver.
