How to Avoid Passing Jock Itch to a Sex Partner

Sexually transmitted diseases can range from mildly annoying to fatal. Unfortunately, the symptoms for many of the commonly passed STDs are very similar. Jock itch can be a symptom of anything from dry skin to herpes. A rash that becomes an open sore from scratching can create an environment ripe for passing HIV and AIDS. You will want to avoid passing any genital disorder on to your partner.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Abstain from sexual activity until the rash from jock itch is gone. The best prevention is not to engage in any activity that will bring the rash into contact with another person's skin. Wait until the cause of the itching is gone or the symptoms are diagnosed and treated.
Step2
Wear a condom. A prophylactic will protect the most vulnerable areas of infection but often do not cover the entire rash. Be careful not to perform acts that will cause the itching sores to open, creating more fluids that can be passed on.
Step3
Clean any sex toys that have been used by the person with the jock itch. If a virus causes the itch, the germs can be passed on through the shared use of stimulators used for sexual stimulation.
Step4
See a doctor to get a proper diagnosis. The itching can be a yeast infection or ringworm, which are not deadly, but can still be passed on to a partner. Ask the doctor for medication to treat your partner so that you will not risk the chance of becoming re-infected.
