Being a teen is hard enough and becoming a teen mother makes life instantly more serious than for the average teen. Starting a teen pregnancy support group will help the teen's transition to motherhood and enhance the life of the teen and her baby.

From Quick Guide: Youth Organizations
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Create clear objectives, a mission and values that the group will maintain. Design the support group as if it is a business to serve people and care for their needs. Clear group objectives allow new mentors or supporters to come in and easily join the team to love and care for teen moms and their babies.

  2. Step 2

Plan, organize and facilitate means of how the group will work and how the group will support teen mothers.

  3. Step 3

Establish means of financial support. Ask local ministries, churches and/or businesses to support and provide financial aid to the support group.

  4. Step 4

Organize a group of mentors. Seek women who are mothers themselves, are loving and compassionate, and have a heart for teenagers. Train the mentors by providing books, training manuals and videos.

  5. Step 5

Visit school counselors to let them know about the support group and ask them to spread the word that the group exists.

  6. Step 6

Connect with other local teen support groups and organizations. Reach out to teens in their environments to let them know that you are there to support them during their pregnancy and after the birth of the child.

  7. Step 7

Put up posters, hand out flyers, make phone calls and network to reach out to teens to urge them to join the teen support group.
