Step 1
Open WinZip by clicking its desktop or Start Menu icon. This takes you to the main program interface.
-
Step 2
Select "New" from the program's toolbar. This opens a dialog window that asks where you want your new zipfile saved. Once you have found the location you want, enter a name for your file, but you don't need to add ".zip" to it. Press "Ok" to continue.

Step 3
Look over the functions in the "Add" window. The upper part of the window is a standard dialog window where you select the files you want and click "Add," but it can do quite a bit more. The lower section has several configurable options for your new file. You can choose to replace or rename files if you have 2 with the same name, split your zip into multiple sections, change the file's compression rate or determine the type of folders and files that will be included in the basic zip.

Step 4
Choose the "Add" button from the main program interface's toolbar to add a new file to your zip. This button takes you back to the "Add" window.
