How to Visit Frankenstein's Castle
Darmstadt, Germany is home to one of the scariest places in the world: Frankenstein Castle. The setting of Mary Shelley's Gothic horror novel, Frankenstein Castle was the 18th century home of Lord Konrad Dippel Von Frankenstein. There are many theories about Dippel, including one that he sold his soul for eternal life. Fact or fiction, Frankenstein Castle is a must see for any horror story enthusiast.

Visit Frankenstein Castle during Halloween to get the maximum scare factor. An elaborate monster-themed theater show takes place in the castle at this time.

Leave the Village of Darmstadt, and head south to the smaller burg of Muhltal, home of Frankenstein Castle.

Tips & Warnings
Public transportation is also available from Darmstadt, if you'd rather not rent a car. The tour bus drops tourists off at the foot of the mountain. It is a half hour walk up the mountain, by foot, to reach the castle.
