Telescopic mirrors are a safety feature for people who haul trailers and campers. Dual arm mirrors are sturdier and extend from the doors of the cab further increasing sight. Safety is critical when on the road—it is important to see what the vehicles around you are doing. The benefit of increased visual awareness is immeasurable—telescopic mirrors can be installed with minimal effort.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Solder gun
  • Cable wire
  • Screwdriver
  • Telescopic mirror kit
  1. Step 1

Begin the removal of the inside door panel.

  2. Step 2

Pinch the rubber plugs and pull them out—you will reveal insulation tape at this point. Remove all of it.

  3. Step 3

Take the current side mirrors off; strap them down before you remove any nuts and bolts—you don't want them to fall and break.

  4. Step 4

Thread the new bolts through the current holes and insert them into the new telescopic mirrors—tighten the nuts in a rotation pattern.

  5. Step 5

Run the new wires through the flexible rubber tube and solder them together. Use a separate wire to ground the motor.

  6. Step 6

Move the mirror as a test before the door panel is put back together.

  7. Step 7

Switch to the passenger side of the vehicle and repeat the installation process.

Tips & Warnings
  • Test the mirrors before you reassemble the door panel—wiring can be tricky.
  • It is important that you have a ground wire going from the mirror motor to a bolt in the floor board of the car.
