The difference between a panini and a regular sandwich is that a panini is grilled with ridges and the ingredients melt or fuse together, giving a delicious flavor to any combination of foods. These are easy to make with a variety of different ingredients.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Choose your ingredients.

  2. Step 2

Take the cheese of your choice out of its container and slice it if necessary.

  3. Step 3

Thinly slice a tomato and put it on top of the cheese.

  4. Step 4

Choose your bread and get out two slices of it.

  5. Step 5

Brush the bottom of each slice of bread with olive oil and then place the cheese and tomato on top of it. Put your ingredients, such as meat or grilled chicken, on top.

  6. Step 6

Top the bread, tomato and cheese with the other slice of bread that you have brushed with olive oil.

  7. Step 7

Cover and grill for about 4 minutes.

  8. Step 8

Be sure to check the sandwich frequently to see if the ridges are formed, the center is melted and the bread is toasted.

  9. Step 9

After the cheese has melted and the bread is toasted, remove it from the panini and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a hot outdoor grill to cook the panini. Put a foil covered brick on top of the sandwich. The brick will act as a weight and will help insure that the ridges form correctly.
  • A George Foreman grill can also be used as a substitute for a Panini maker as long as the grill is heated before you use it..
  • Be careful when removing the panini from the heat source you have chosen to use as it will be very hot.
