Step1
Look to charitable organizations for help. Groups such as the United Way and the Salvation Army, or local religious congregations may have funds available to help the homeless with educational expenses. Ask if there is additional funding to provide the homeless person with food and shelter.
Step2
Note the specific conditions attached to the funding. Find out if there are any restrictions placed on the monies. For example, an organization may not cover online classes, or it may only cover specific programs run by specific institutions.
Step3
Assess the student's proficiency level. If the person you are trying to help does not have basic ninth grade level skills, he will need additional tutoring before he can begin his GED classes. You funding group may have information on adult literacy and math programs, or they may be able to help you find these programs.
Step4
Select a program to fit the student's needs. Some programs offer full-day GED classes while others allow part-time evening or day classes. Some programs can be completed online. When selecting a GED program, discuss with the student what type of program would best fit into her schedule, and what type of program she is most comfortable with.
