Instructions

    • 1

Decide if you want to celebrate the season itself or if you'll be using magic to achieve goal for spring. Acquire any supplies or equipment you may need well in advance of the spring equinox. You can choose to perform multiple rites such as one honoring the day and schedule another ritual celebrating night.

    • 2

Purchase plants, flowers or vegetables to plant. Clear a spot in your garden or put these new items in planters. The growth of these plants signifies the giving and appreciation of life.

    • 3

Go out into nature by walking around a park, along a nature trail or in your neighborhood. Pay attention to which trees and plants are blooming and feel the spring air. Clean up if you see anything that does not belong in that natural environment.

    • 4

Use eggs as another symbol of new life. Color or paint hard boiled eggs or use a crayon or white wax to place symbols onto the eggs that represent the things you want in the coming season.

    • 5

Breathe deeply. Draw in the energy of your environment and visualize your goals coming into being. Peel and eat the eggs to absorb the things you desire.

    • 6

Light matched pairs of black and white candles throughout your house to represent the light and dark in balance during spring and within yourself. Create an altar (a simple table or shelf will do) with flowers, eggs and red candles. Meditate on new beginnings and how you'll use them in your life.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also create your own ritual, using springtime symbols that have meaning for you.

  • Brightly colored flowers such as red tulips and yellow daffodils and great representations of spring.

  • Perform rituals, especially those outdoors at dawn or sunset to represent balancing light and dark.
