1
Prepare for change so that you can better cope when it occurs. Quick adjustments are needed when a company goes through changes because of emerging technologies and new competitors. Maintain cash reserves in case of a job loss, keep your resume updated and have your eyes open for new opportunities.
-
2
Express your anxiety about the change with family and friends. Denying your feelings will only make them stronger. Ask friends, family and acquaintances that have had similar experiences how they coped. Read books about coping with workplace reorganization.

3
Realize that upper management may set expectations that are unrealistic such as adding more work and expecting fewer people to accomplish it. When this happens, do not let yourself or coworkers suffer abuse because you're afraid you will lose your job. Raise the subject in a way that does not make you look uncooperative. This does carry a risk, but you could create a better environment for everyone.
-
4
Protect your leisure time to prevent additional stress. Acknowledge when your responsibility has become so great that it cuts into your vacation days, holidays, nights and weekends. This can become a pattern if you do it too often. Management may come to expect it of you. There may be times when it is necessary to work additional hours, but do not consistently sacrifice the time that belongs to you and your family.
-
5
View the change as an opportunity to gain new skills. Change your resume to fit the new needs of your position. Increase your value by learning new skills for the job you want and offer your assistance when you can. Become too valuable to lose. Ask for feedback on where you can improve.
-
6
Keep a positive attitude by looking at the possibilities change brings. Look at all sides of the reorganization to better understand how it could be positive for your job and the company. Focus on the upside and management will notice your strong, positive attitude.
-
7
Network by contacting anyone you have lost touch with, attending association meetings or introducing yourself to anyone who can help you advance with the company or strengthen your position. Keep the lines of communication open with coworkers and find ways to become more efficient.
