1
Find your supply of live worms. Look for moist, rich ground in wooded areas with a lot of pine straw or leaves to keep the ground soft. Clear the area by raking any straw and leaves away. The worms will usually be on the top of the ground or just underneath the soft soil.

2
Raise worms by growing them in compost beds. Compost is decaying organic matter such as food scraps, cut up leaves, dead bark from trees and chicken litter. Fill wooden boxes with compost. Add the worms you have collected. Worms will burrow down into the compost and reproduce rapidly. Earthworms, red wigglers, pink worms and some grub worms are some of the species that do well in compost.

3
Add extra food to the compost to get your worms ready for selling. The best additives are lard and cooking grease. This fattens the worms rapidly and gives them a reason to stay in the compost, rather than burrowing out. Advertise with signs and flyers that you have fresh fishing worms for sale.

4
Consider selling plastic, man-made worms. They come in various sizes and colors and emit different smells to attract the fish. Some of the worms have an oil-based scent. When you pull them through the water on a hook, the scent attracts fish.

Search online for fish bait manufacturers if you want to purchase large quantities. Popular fishing magazines can also direct you to companies that offer large quantities of plastic fishing worms for resale. You can buy large quantities cheap and resell them for a profit.
