The outdoors can bring a primitive and relaxing element back to any vacation, so why not choose that very setting for your next romantic getaway. With plenty of gorgeous places to choose from around the country or around the world, you can't go wrong. Use these steps to learn about some great places to spend your next romantic wilderness weekend.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Rough it in the true sense of the words. Pack up and hike into the North Cascades in Marblemount, Washington and surrounding areas. It is over 500,000 acres of untamed wilderness with only one road going through it. It requires a pass from the ranger station and a seasoned outdoorsperson.

  2. Step 2

Stay in a yurt or a rustic cabin. You'll have the comforts of a warm place and blankets without phones, electricity and other amenities we take for granted. A great place to stay in a yurt is Umpqua Lighthouse just outside of Winchester Bay, Oregon. They offer yurts, deluxe yurts and cabins on the beautiful site of the lighthouse with nearby beach access.

  3. Step 3

Fish in Wisconsin at the Frontier Wilderness. All right, it's not quite in the wilderness. This campground offers tents, RV or cabin camping. You can have all the opulent luxuries of a hotel, including community area with pool, fish boils and wine. The owners encourage guests to bring the whole family.

  4. Step 4

Experience luxury in Scotland. The Pool House is one of Europe's premier resorts. It is located on the shores of Loch Ewe in a region that calls itself "the last great wilderness in Europe." The accommodations are beautiful.

Tips & Warnings
  • Stretch your comfort zone, but do it safely. If you have never hiked in open land, get some tips from the ranger station and carry a radio with you at all times. Cell phones probably won't receive signals in mountainous areas.
