Step 1
Be specific. Sit down and make a list of the areas that need funding to make your project work. The more specific you are in your proposal, the better the chances you have at finding matching fund grants for your event or fundraisers.

Find the best match for your cause. There are literally thousands of matching grants available and they support a large variety of causes. Check the federal matching funds division for the National Endowment for the Humanities. The organization's website (see Resources below) contains eligibility and application information.

Step 3
Research. Look for all the matching funds you can and make sure you apply to all of them. The more work you put in, the more money you can raise for your cause. No matter how great the cause, curing cancer or providing meals for the homeless, they are all realized through two things: money and advocacy.

Submit a strong application packet. Applications often include a large amount of the information grant makers are looking for, but some may require additional information. Some grants require a pre-application workshop and others are just looking for financial statements and 501(c)(3) status. Make sure to get all the details for each grant you are applying for to make your application the strongest.
