How to Play Music Maven

If you've ever wanted to be a rock star--or just manage one--you will likely find Music Maven to be a lot of fun. It's an online music industry simulation that puts you in control of a band's success. Play online daily against other bands to become a music legend.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

1. Set up an account on the Music Maven website. Enter your name. This will be the name of the band's manager and the name of one of the band members if you also choose to put yourself in the band. Come up with a name for your band, choose a musical genre, select a hometown and select the lineup.
2. Begin managing your band. You will need to log in to the game every day and set your band's schedule for the month. Write new songs by practicing and make money by touring. You will start with only $1000, so make sure to tour each month.
3. Look at your band news section each time you log in. It will let you know if a band member is unhappy, how much money you have made at gigs, if you have written any new songs and how much you incurred in expenses that month. Make adjustments to things that need your attention.
4. Apply to record labels once you have a popularity rating of 10 or higher. Look through the available labels and click "Apply Now" on those that interest you. If they want you, they will send you a message with a recording contract offer.
5. Continue to write songs, tour, record songs and promote your band once you are successful. You will be competing with all the other people who play the game to be the top band in the Music Maven universe.

Tips & Warnings

• When touring early in the game, select the option "We'd rather play every day even if it means playing a crappy show." You'll need all the money you can get at this point and can't afford to be picky.
• Be sure to log in to the game every day and set your schedule for the month. The game is simmed every night at midnight, Central Time.
