Creating an origami frogs is a fun art project that can provide hours of entertainment. Once constructed, these origami frogs can actually jump, providing plenty of opportunity for some competitive fun with your friends.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin with a square piece of paper and lay it flat on a table in front of you. Take the upper right corner and bring it to the lower left corner, folding the paper diagonally. Open the paper back up, take the upper left corner and bring it down to the lower right corner. Crease the paper diagonally and open it back up, so that you have two diagonal folds making an X in the across the paper.

  2. Step 2

Turn the paper over and then fold it once in half. Hold the paper up with the diagonal folds facing up. Push the sides of your half fold in, making a triangle.

  3. Step 3

Take the top flaps of each side by the corners and fold them up, touching the top point of the triangle. The flaps on this side should now form a diamond shape. Take the 2 corners on the sides of the diamond and fold them in so they meet in the middle.

  4. Step 4

Flip the paper over so that you can work with the other side of flaps. Take the 2 sides and fold them in so that the outer sides now meet in the middle. From that point, fold the sides out again and parallel with the outer edges.

  5. Step 5

Go back to the other side of the frog. Fold the entire bottom of the frog up about a third of the way to the top of the frog. Fold the top of that flap back down so that the horizontal edges are parallel.

  6. Step 6

Set the frog on a flat surface, press down on his back end and watch him jump.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use card stock or some other thick paper to make frogs that jump higher and further.
