Four Kings Card Trick - Beginner

  1. Step 1

Pull out all four Kings from the deck of cards. Also, pull out three other cards. It doesn't matter what they are; these are just placeholders.

  2. Step 2

Show the four Kings, but keep the other three cards behind the Kings so no one can see them.

  3. Step 3

Say that the four Kings are going to rob a bank by going in through the roof. Put all the cards face down on top of the remaining deck of cards. Make sure the three placeholder cards are on top of the Kings.

  4. Step 4

Pick up the top card, but don't show it to anyone. Tell everyone that he is going down to the first floor, and slip him into the deck toward the bottom.

  5. Step 5

Grab the next card without showing anyone. Explain he's going to the second floor and put him in the middle of the deck.

  6. Step 6

Place the next card on the very bottom of the deck. Announce that he is going to the vault in the basement.

  7. Step 7

Pick up the next card from the deck and show it to everyone. It should be one of the Kings. Tell everyone he is the lookout and he says the police are on their way. Place him face down back on top of the deck.

  8. Step 8

Tap the deck four times and say the lookout is alerting the rest of the Kings so that they can escape through the top of the bank.

  9. Step 9

Flip over the top four cards from the deck, making sure to show everyone that they are all Kings.

  10. Not Your Card - Intermediate

  11. Step 1

Spread out a shuffled deck of cards. Have someone pick a card without showing it to you. Ask the volunteer to memorize it and place it back into the deck.

  12. Step 2

Pick up the cards. Cut the deck, but keep the bottom three cards in one hand. Have the volunteer place his card on top of these three cards and then put the rest of the cards on top of his card.

  13. Step 3

Show the volunteer the bottom of the deck and ask if that is his card. He should say no. Take that card and put it face down on the table in front of you. Take the next bottom card and put it on the top of the deck, still face down.

  14. Step 4

Display the bottom card to the person. Ask if that is his card. He should say no. Tilt the deck back down. Without letting the person see what you're doing, slip the bottom card toward you with one finger while you slip out the next card with another finger. Put this card on top of the other card on the table.

  15. Step 5

Repeat Step 3 again until you have six cards on the table.

  16. Step 6

Repeat Step 4 with the six cards you placed on the table. Then do step 3 again twice. The card on the bottom should be the card the person chose in the beginning.

  17. Always On Top - Difficult

  18. Step 1

Have someone pick any card. While the volunteer memorizes the card, palm the next card from the deck. This takes some practice before you can do it so no one can see it in your hand.

  19. Step 2

Tell the person to place their card back on top. Put the card you have palmed in your hand on top of the deck.

  20. Step 3

Take both the first and second cards from the top of the deck, making it look like you're only taking one. Flip both over so it looks like you're only showing the top card to the audience.

  21. Step 4

Put the cards back so they are face down on top of the deck, again making it look like you're only holding one card and not two.

  22. Step 5

Slip the top card into the middle of the deck. Everyone thinks that is the volunteer's card that was chosen in the beginning.

  23. Step 6

Flip over the top card. It should be the volunteer's card.
