Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Buy a hula hoop at a retailer or online. Summer is a great time to look at the stores and you can buy online all year. They come in a variety of designs as well as colors so find the one that fits your personality.
Step2
Decide how you want to learn hula hoop routines. There are classes offered although they may not yet be in your area as hula hoop is recently becoming a popular fitness method. You can also use a DVD.
Step3
Search out your options by trying to rent or borrow a hula hoop DVD or ask to sit in on a class. DVDs are often reviewed online as well so you can read those to help you choose.
Step4
Watch the moves and try them out. You may not catch on right away so keep trying and laugh at yourself when you make mistakes. Replay the DVD or ask the teacher of your class if you have trouble.
Step5
Practice until you catch on to the routines. Try out other classes and DVDs once you get good at one so you stay motivated. Use your own music and make up your own routines once you get the hang of swinging your hips.
