How to Throw a Party for Three Kings Day
Three Kings Day, also known as Epiphany, is celebrated on January 6, marking the last day of the 12 days of Christmas. Traditionally a Hispanic celebration, it commemorates the Biblical journey of the three kings who followed the star to Bethlehem so they could bring gifts to the Christ child. If you are planning a Three Kings Day party, the following steps will be very helpful.

1
Plan the time for the party. The day is already set if you choose to have the party on January 6th. However, the time is to your discretion but you may want to choose late afternoon or early in the evening. This allows people to get off work and still make it to the party.

2
Make a list of people you are going to invite to the party and start inviting at least two weeks in advance. This can be done by phone or by the mailing of invitations. If you choose to mail them, make certain you send them in plenty of time prior to the party. Two weeks is a good rule of thumb when inviting guest. You want to give your guests ample time to plan for it.

Decide what all is needed for the party and go grocery shopping. You will need a great deal of food and drinks, depending on the number of guests you are expecting. Also, no Three Kings Day party is complete without a Rosca de Reyes. This crown shaped sweet bread is filled with nuts, figs, and cherries, and is traditional decorated with slices of lime and orange. Hot chocolate should be served with this bread. If you do not know how to make this sweet bread, check with our local baker.

Enjoy the celebration! Traditionally, children received their gifts on this day rather than Christmas. It would be a great idea to have the children at the party exchange gifts with one another. This would keep the tradition alive and also help the younger ones understand what Three Kings Day is all about.
