If your child loved the movie "Cars," then he should be Lightnin' McQueen for Halloween. Sure you can buy a costume in a store or on the Internet, but you also can make a Lightnin' McQueen costume that will be the envy of all the other Trick or Treaters.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Cardboard box
  • Paint
  • Ribbon

Step1
Cut the bottom out of a cardboard box. Be sure that your child can fit into the box and that it can come around his waistline.
Step2
Attach pieces of sturdy ribbon to the box that will secure it on your child's shoulders. The ribbon can be stapled to the box at the front and rear end.
Step3
Paint the box red with yellow flames along the side. Use a picture of Lightnin' McQueen as a guide to painting the costume.
Step4
Draw a large smile on the front of the box. This will be the front of the Lightnin' McQueen costume. The eyes can be drawn on one of the top flaps of the box. Be sure to make the Lightnin' McQueen costume look happy.
Step5
Secure cardboard tires to the sides of the box. Paint the tires black and the rims red prior to attaching them to the box.
Step6
Place a decal of the number 45 on the sides of the costume.
Step7
Dress your child like a race car driver and have him step into the Lightnin' McQueen costume. Put the straps over your child's shoulders to hold the costume in place.
