After you burn some CDs or obtain them loose, you should protect the disks from scratching and wear. CD sleeves were made just for this purpose.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Check out your local store. Finding CD sleeves is easy and inexpensive. Target and Wal-Mart sell CD sleeves.
Step2
Look on the Internet. There are numerous companies selling a variety of CD sleeves on the Internet. You'll find some sites listed in the Resources section.
Step3
Buy plastic cases. Clear plastic cases, known as jewel cases, make great CD sleeves. They are inexpensive and you can find thin ones that are easy to store. Making labels for these are easy. You can find the cases and labels in home office supply stores, such as Staples.
Step4
Look into paper sleeves in a variety of styles. You can get envelopes, which you can then seal, or you can buy sleeves that just open on the top. These are inexpensive and easily stored. They take up little space and since you can write on the sleeves, labeling is a snap.
Step5
Consider plastic sleeves. These offer more protection for the CD but you'll have to label the CD instead of the sleeve. They can also be awkward to store.
Step6
Buy CD wallets. These come in a variety of sizes and are perfect for carrying your CDs.
Step7
Save the sleeves that you used for your 5 1/4 inch floppy disks. They make excellent CD sleeves, and it won't cost you anything to reuse them. Label the CD unless you can write on the sleeves.
Step8
Reuse your sleeves. The nicest part of buying CD sleeves is that they can be used for DVDs, too.
