How to Visit Belfast City Hall, Northern Ireland

Completed in 1906, Belfast City Hall is the home to the Belfast City Council. It is a beautiful neoclassical building that figures richly in the city's government. Visiting Belfast City Hall while in Northern Ireland is highly recommended.

  1. Step 1

    Make travel arrangements for your visit to Northern Ireland. You need a passport. Be sure to allow plenty of time to receive it before your trip.

  2. Step 2

    Look into the history of the Belfast City Hall. Planning for City Hall began in 1888, when Belfast was granted city status by Queen Victoria. There are various memorials in the building and on the grounds. Make note of the ones you want to see.

  3. Step 3

    Contact City Hall to see when tours are available. They have all current information on their website. They list any tours available, times and locations.

  4. Step 4

    Arrive at Belfast City Hall in plenty of time before your tour starts. If you are driving be sure to include time for parking and traffic delays.

    Enjoy your tour of City Hall. Tour guides are very knowledgeable and are open to questions about the building and they may even be able to answer a few questions about the culture and history of Ireland itself.
