Instructions

    • 1

Place the butcher paper over the top of the ottoman and add an inch on each edge for seam allowances.

    • 2

Label this as the top of your ottoman.

    • 3

Continue on each side of the ottoman. This will be the pattern for your slipcover.

    • 4

Lay the butcher paper pattern on your fabric and cut out each section.

    • 5

Sew the sections together, making sure to attach the right sides together.

    • 6

Iron the seams flat and turn the slipcover right side out.

    • 7

Upholster your ottoman with your new slipcover. An extra pair of hands is helpful at this stage to insure a proper fit and to help make any adjustments needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are not concerned with being able to remove your slipcover, simply fold your upholstery fabric neatly and staple it to the ottoman frame. Cut away any excess and cover staples with trim fabric and a glue gun.

  • Once you've mastered the basics, you can embellish the piece with upholstery tacks, ribbons, trim or buttons.
