How to Identify Indigo Adults

Indigos have been appearing on society's radar since the 1970s and 80s. They were introduced as a classification of children that exhibited certain traits that were not considered "normal." As time has past, now we have Indigo adults living among the rest of society not knowing why they are so different.

Instructions

    • 1

Look inside yourself and determine if you are highly intelligent and creative. Decide if you enjoy making things and find a need to know "why" if you are asked to do something.

    • 2

Examine your interactions with authority figures whether it be schools, governments or society in general. Resolve if you have a problem with seeing these things as broken and prefer to either lead or work alone at projects.

    • 3

Determine if you have experienced or find a draw to psychic or spiritual ideas and did even at a very early age, before your teen years. Also, if you have an awareness of other dimensions or alternate realities and seek a meaning to your life and about the world.

    • 4

See if rage and disgust characterize what you consider stupid, repetitious and set patterns of moving through life (schooling to career, marriage, kids, house with picket fence). The frustration that arises from this can lead to depression and has even led to suicidal thoughts in early years.

    • 5

Find the way in which you interact on an emotional level. Some Indigos have emotions that are fully open and unshielded and cry at the drop of a hat while others are fully shielded and show almost no emotion. They are very intuitive and have deep empathy for others but also an intolerance of stupidity in thought and action.

    • 6

Diagnose an Indigo as ADD or ADHD because of erratic thought patterns and learning styles that don't conform to what is considered the norm. Some examples are rebellion in school, refusal to do homework and rejection of the authority of the teachers.

    • 7

Investigate other characteristics and living styles of adult Indigos by searching the Internet. There are many groups of adult Indigos that one can find to talk to others that think like you and many more that deal with Indigo children.

Tips & Warnings

  • Indigos do not only have some of these traits and characteristics but as a generalized group almost all have all of these traits and characteristics.

  • Talk to others that are Indigo by email or chat and discuss some of the things that concern you and make you think that you are or someone that you know are Indigo.
