More and more couples these days are tossing the idea of traditional honeymoons to tropical resorts or cruise ships and opting for a more adventurous honeymoon, such as hiking, whitewater rafting or a road trip to ski areas. Several companies offer adventurous honeymoon packages.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide what your common interests are. If you both enjoy skiing, consider going to a ski lodge. If you enjoy shopping for bargains, consider a road trip with flea markets and quaint local shops on your list of stops.

  2. Step 2

Try delving into a different culture. Spend a week in the Outback of Australia or on a Native American reservation. Learning about a new culture or visiting a land of your heritage can be fun, educational and memorable.

  3. Step 3

Visit an ice hotel. Although, the original ice hotel is in JukkasjÀrvi, Sweden, Canada, Greenland, Finland and Alaska each have these chilly accommodations as well. These ice hotels are only erected during certain parts of the year, so check for reservations.

  4. Step 4

Consider golfing in Ireland; the Golf Ireland website (see Resources below) offers information on the courses and planning a trip.

  5. Step 5

Visit New York City and spend a week walking the streets and learning how New Yorkers live. Contact a Big Apple Greeter (see Resources below) to help you find our way around and to learn the transit system.

  6. Step 6

Ride an elephant in Zambia or watch the wildlife in the Galapagos Islands. Wildland Adventures offers several adventurous honeymoon packages.
