If you are in the market for a DVD player, consider buying a used item to save money. Used DVD players can be a fraction of the cost of a new DVD player and work just as well. By following these steps, you can learn how to buy a used DVD player in your local neighborhood or online.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Get a copy of your local newspaper, and look in the sales section of the classifieds. There is normally a subsection for electronics. Here you can find listings for used DVD players in your area. The advantage of shopping locally is that you can try the product out before you buy it and there are no shipping charges.
Step2
Visit the Craigslist website, and click on the city nearest you underneath the heading of US Cities on the right hand side of the page. If your city isn't listed, click on the nearest state instead, then locate your city on the next page. Once you are on the city page, select "cds/dvds/vhs" in the For Sale section. From here you can find used DVD players (see Resources below).
Step3
Call or email the person who currently has the DVD player. Find out if their specifications and price are right for you. Meet with the person to try out the DVD before you buy.
Step4
Check the eBay auction website for used DVD players, if you can't find anything locally. eBay is the world's largest auction website and consistently has many DVD players on sale for great prices. Simply type "DVD Player" in the search box on the homepage of the website and press the "Search" Button. On the subsequent page, you will see many used DVD players for sale (see Resources below).
Step5
Surf over to the Second Act website. The Second Act website sells used electronics at reduced prices. Once you are at the homepage of the website, click on the "Audio, Video and More" link. On the following page, click on the "Home Video" link in the left hand side navigational panel. The resulting page shows a list of used DVD players. Click on the DVD player to read about the features and more about what is included in the price (see Resources below).
Step6
Find out if there are any guarantees on the DVD player, and then place your order from either eBay or the Second Act website.
