Everyone has had to use a package of frozen peas as an ice pack in a pinch. But did you know you could make a quickie, reusable, squishy, cold-holding ice pack in a pinch from ziplock baggies and rubbing alcohol? You can. This is great for injuries and keeping beverages cool.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup rubbing alcohol
  • Freezer bags -Gallon or pint size

Step1
Mix the water and the rubbing alcohol together.
Step2
Pour into and seal in a freezer bag.
Step3
Then encase in a second bag. This will prevent leakage and make it more durable.

Tips & Warnings

  • The more alcohol you use, the softer the pack will be, making it more gentle on injuries than an ice pack.
  • Add Food coloring and you will know instantly it's for ice packs not to be eaten!
  • When taking ice packs from freezer to use, wrap in towel first before applying to body. If ice packs freeze too hard and aren’t slushy, simply allow the ice to melt in bag then add more alcohol.
  • Always mark the ice packs so they do not get eaten or used for food.
