Horse muffins are one of the most popular horse treats that you can make. Horses love them - but they can get demanding! If your horses start pawing the ground or otherwise getting impatient for treats, you should wait until they behave before giving them some. The following steps will show how to make two different types of horse muffins.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1½ cups bran
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup skimmed milk
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbs. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  1. Step 1

Stir the bran, flour, baking powder and soda together. Beat the egg and mix it with the milk, molasses and oil. Mix the dry and wet ingredients together.

  2. Step 2

Grease some muffin tins or line them with paper and bake the muffins for 15 minutes at 400 degrees. You will like these muffins just as much as your horse will.

  3. Step 3

Add ¼ cup of applesauce to the recipe for a more flavorful variation.

  4. Step 4

Feed the following muffins to horses only because of the sweet feed used. This recipe would be for a stable of horses because the quantity is quite large. Mix 15 qts. of sweet feed and 1½ qts. of molasses in a large bowl.

  5. Step 5

Add enough flour so that the mixture holds together well, usually about five cups. Fill the muffin tins halfway and pack them well. Bake the muffins at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
