How to Comfort an Embarrassed Child
Embarrassing situations happen to all of us at one time or another. When you are a child, these situations can seem worse than they actually are. As parents, it is our job to comfort the child when something embarrassing happens to him.

1
Let the child explain why they are embarrassed. It may not seem like a big deal to you, but it is important to them.
-
2
Share a similar experience that happened to you. This helps her feel less alone in the situation. It is comforting to know that embarrassing things happen to everyone and that it is nothing to be ashamed of.

3
Comfort him with a sign of affection. If your child is affectionate, shower him with hugs and kisses. For the less affectionate, a hand squeeze is enough to show him that you love him and are there to comfort him.
-
4
Distract her. If you can think of something to get her mind off of things, then do it. Playing a game outdoors or taking her to the park can help her focus on something besides her embarrassment.
-
5
Move on. Try to not dwell on the embarrassing situation together. Tell him that he should let it go and that everyone will forget about it soon enough.
