The Cub Scouts is an organization that makes a promise to be better citizens, follow rules, help people and their country. Whether you have a boy in first grade ready to join or an older school boy, the Cub Scouts offers valuable life lessons.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a Cub Scout Pack to join. School is a good place to start if you aren't sure where to find a group to join. Ask school administrators or counselors to help you get in contact with the cub scout organization.

  2. Step 2

Ask the Pack Leader for any information he can provide that assist your son in the decision to join the Cub Scouts.

  3. Step 3

Plan on attending a Cub Scout Pack meeting or Den meeting with your son before he decides. At the meeting you can ask questions and talk one-on-one with some of the Scouts and their parents.

  4. Step 4

Take your son to a Cub Scout group activity. Scout activities include camping, community volunteer projects, fund raising and outings.

  5. Step 5

Let your son ask questions of you, or of other Scouts. Complete the necessary paperwork and pay fees for membership, if your son is joining the cub scouts.

Tips & Warnings
  • Younger boys may not be aware of what joining Scouts means until they get involved. It is a parent's responsibility to help them learn the Cub Scout way, so you'll be involved as much as they are.
  • If you're able to, find a copy of the Cub Scout Handbook for either Tiger Cubs or the appropriate Den level.
