Step 1
Register with your den months before summer camp. Most Scouts participate in Boy Scout Summer Camp as a den. Registration and payment is requested in advance.
-
Step 2
Fill out all camp forms. Confirm that the Boy Scout leader has the completed forms prior to leaving for camp. Most camps require registration and medical forms to be completed before your son can attend. A medical exam by a physician is required to be on file at the camp as well.
-
Step 3
Find out what camping equipment is supplied, and what you need to provide for your child. At some camps, tents or cabins are already set up for use, but not all offer this convenience.
-
Step 4
Pack for Boy Scout summer camp using a checklist provided by the camp or your Boy Scout leader. Pack the minimum amount necessary for the days your son is at camp. Pack warm and cool clothing in preparation for temperature changes.
-
Step 5
Make a checklist of what your Boy Scout wants to accomplish at camp. This can be as simple as making new friends and learning to tie a knot to completing badge requirements.
-
Step 6
Review the merit badge activities available at the camp. Make a list of the activities and badges your son wants to receive. Look over all the Boy Scout Camp information to find out the activities which have prerequisites and participation fees.
