All mom's should be treated like royalty on Mother's Day. The way you plan mom's day is completely up to you, but remember she's the Queen and what she says goes. Plan a day she'll love by asking her what she wants beforehand, or just go for a big surprise.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Start mom's day out with her royal breakfast. Making mom breakfast on Mother's Day is a way to acknowledge and appreciate her, by serving her needs. Include flowers, jewelery and a crown on the breakfast tray.

  2. Step 2

Make a "Queen for the Day" crown using construction paper, glitter, silk flowers and craft gems. If you prefer, you can buy mom a crown at a party supply store or purchase an inexpensive tiara at a costume jewelry store.

  3. Step 3

Create a photo shoot. Set up a portrait studio in your home or outside at the park, lake or anywhere with great backgrounds. Bring mom after her makeover and take her pictures to remember the day. Use a digital camera for the photo shoot, and print the pictures that day. Have a frame on hand or add it to her Mother's Day presents.

  4. Step 4

Give her some alone time during the day. She can go shopping or enjoy a few hours at the spa. Send mom for a complete makeover. She can get her hair and make up done, and maybe even pick out a new outfit. Allow mom to pamper herself for a few hours.

  5. Step 5

Find her a gift that says "You are the Queen." Royal jewelery is always a winner, or buy her that special pair of shoes she's been wanting for months.

  6. Step 6

Keep mom's special day going well into the night. Hire a babysitter, and plan a special adults only night that could include dinner and a movie, a concert or just a walk in the park under the stars.

Tips & Warnings
  • If mom likes to sleep in once in awhile, Mother's Day should be one of those days. Make brunch instead of breakfast.
  • Moms with grown up kids should be able to enjoy the day too. Dad can help her feel like a queen when he treats her to a day doing something she loves like golfing, playing tennis, shopping or seeing a concert.
  • Ask mom what she wants for Mother's Day. Some moms want to spend the whole day with their kids, while others would prefer a needed break and some alone time.
