The first sliced bread appeared on the scene in Missouri in 1928 and became the hyperbolic label for anything deemed superior. Sliced bread is a kitchen staple, not only perfect for toast and sandwiches but quite handy for a number of household chores.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Save the scorched rice. Put a slice of white bread on top of the rice while it's still hot in the pan. Replace the lid and let it sit for several minutes to get rid of the burned taste. Discard the bread and serve the rice.
Step2
Go soft on the marshmallows. Rescue a bag of stale marshmallows by sealing them in a plastic bag for a couple of days with two pieces of fresh bread. Toss the bread and enjoy the plumped marshmallows.
Step3
Keep the smell of broccoli or cabbage from permeating the entire house. Set a slice of bread on top of the pot lid while the veggies are cooking to absorb most of the odor.
Step4
Prevent grease fires in the boiler. Put two pieces of bread in the drip pan to soak up grease and reduce smoke when preparing meat.
Step5
Clean fingerprints off walls and wallpaper. Grab a slice of white bread and rub the finger prints off painted walls. Use the same method for smudges and fingerprints on non-washable wallpaper.
Step6
Pick up every last bit of glass next time something shatters on the floor. Press a piece of bread over the entire area of the accident, then put the bread in a plastic bag and toss it into the trash.
