Step1
Find a mantra, or saying, that you can easily remember, such as "Tonight, I fly," and repeat it to yourself as you are falling asleep. Visualize yourself flying in your dreams as you repeat the words and drift off to sleep. Remember to always keep a pen and journal near the bed to record your dreams when you wake.
Step2
Practice flying mentally in a waking state, to avoid startling yourself in a flying dream. Many people find their flying dreams are interrupted by a feeling of falling, so imagine yourself floating downstairs, softly landing into bed or flying while walking down the street. You may also include "flying tools" as you are imagining yourself flying, such as a magic carpet, a parachute or a paraglider.
Step3
Utilize the moments when you wake up from another dream, as these are the times that you have the most ability to control your next dream. Replay your last dream in your mind, trying to recall physical sensations, such as walking or running. Try to enter your next dream, taking your last dream to the next level. For example, if you were walking in your last dream, try to run. If you were running, try to run, leap and fly.
Step4
Build your flying consciousness so that you have a library to take to your dreams with you by taking note of butterflies, flying insects and airplanes. Pay special attention to anything that resembles flying, actively storing those memories in your mind. As you are traveling in a car or train, watching the scenery zoom by, imagine you are flying, and soon these sensations will help you to fly in your dreams.
