How to Export Documents to PDF Format in Open Office
When you need to send your Open Office documents to another person for publication or review, consider exporting them to PDF format first. It's a widely-read format that users of PCs and Macs can view just as easily, and it can give your documents a clean, professional appearance.
Instructions
-
-
1
Open the Open Office Writer. If you haven't downloaded Open Office yet, go to its website at www.openoffice.org and follow the installation instructions to do so.
-
2
Click on the File menu and choose "Open...". Browse the folders on your computer for the document you'd like to convert. Once you've found it, highlight it with a single-click and then click on "Open."
-
-
3
Look over your document to see if it's ready for conversion. Check for spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and typos. Save the document once it's been edited.
-
4
Open the File menu again. Look for the option that reads "Export as PDF." Once you've found it, click on it.
-
5
Type in a name for your PDF file and choose the folder where it will be saved. It's OK to save it to the same directory as your document, but you should give it a different name so you don't get the two confused.
-
6
Click on "Save."
-
7
Browse through the tabs in the PDF Options window and make any necessary changes to the default export settings. The defaults are good, but if you want to encrypt the file or change how it looks when it's opened, you'll need to change them.
-
8
Click on "Export" when you're ready to finish the conversion.

Very useful idea, I find easier to send pictures this way, file-insert graphic-from file. It makes for small file size (for dialup). -
