Step 1
Access your graphics presentation program from the desktop. Click on the task pane under View on the file menu. Highlight "New Document" when the new presentation dialog box opens.
-
Step 2
Type "Atomic Guide" in the placeholder. Highlight the rectangle auto shape on the drawing tool bar. Drag the cursor and drop it in the upper left corner of the document, adding the title, "Atomic Particles."
-
Step 3
Put four rows to the left labeled Name, Proton, Neutron and Electron. Type three column headings going across the top row named Structure, Mass and Charge. Fill in the atomic particle data for Protons, Neutrons and Electrons.
-
Step 4
Create a text box beneath the Atomic Particles box and name it, "Guide to the Periodic Table." Add five bulleted sentences beneath the title using the atomic data found in your text book. Explain what the period table is composed of, how the element boxes are arranged, how the columns are identified, how the rows are identified and what the period number is for the electron shell.
-
Step 5
Insert another text box to the right of the "Guide to the Periodic Table." Format this box with rounded corners. Make its length double its width. Name this box, "Atomic Structure Diagrams." Insert two circles from the drawing tool bar.
-
Step 6
Title the first circle, "Electron Shell" and draw two circles within the main one. Point arrows going from the outer circle and the two inner circles titled, first, second and third electron shell. Draw another arrow pointing to the exact center of the circle and title this, "nucleus." Insert text next to the second circle that indicates how the three electron shells are filled.
-
Step 7
Add one more large text box at the bottom of the document titled "First Three Rows of the Periodic Table." Add the appropriate data for Periods 1, 2 and 3 of the main group elements in rows. Insert eight columns going across and title these from "Group 1A" to "Group 8A."
