How to Do the Falcao Dribble in Soccer

As its name implies, the Falcao dribble is the signature dribbling move of the great Brazilian futsal (indoor soccer) player Paulo Roberto Falcao. Streetball and indoor players like to use it because it's quick and can trick the defender right out of his boots, but you can use it on the field in full-sided games, as well. Read on to learn how to do the Falcao dribble in soccer.

Instructions

    • 1

Step up to the ball and position it to the outside of your right foot.

    • 2

Put the sole of your right foot on top of the ball.

    • 3

Move your left leg one step to the left, while keeping your right foot on top of the ball.

    • 4

Pull the ball across the front of your body to the left. Your foot only needs to touch the ball long enough to get it rolling, so make this dragging motion quick.

    • 5

Place your right foot back on the ground and circle the ball with your left foot in a clockwise motion as it rolls in front of you.

    • 6

Stop your left foot once it's on the right side of the ball and grab the top of it with the sole of your shoe.

    • 7

Roll the ball back to the right and repeat the dribble with your right leg.

Tips & Warnings

  • Practice the Falcao dribble with a futsal (indoor soccer) ball or other small ball first. This will encourage you to focus on the ball and, also, give your feet more room to move.

  • If you want to use the dribble in a game, pick a time when you need to hold the ball and wait for your teammates to arrive. This keeps the defender on his toes and gives you time to plan your next move.
